Christmas video preparations: Part I
This year I’d like to make a video for one of the songs on the Christmas album. To be honest, this has been an idea every year, but I never got round to make one. Mostly due to the lack of time. I’m feeling very confident this year, because there’s still a lot of time till the deadline and there’s already a concept. The whole video is gonna be a secret, but I can already share some stuff with you.
A couple years ago I met Karl Klomp:
He runs a website that archives a lot of his work. He is an inspiration to me and is part of my regular video art promotional speech ever since. If you’re into video art and experimental stuff you might need to check it out.
Personally, I’ve been experimenting with circuit bending on audio devices since I was a teenager, but for me there’s still a lot to discover video wise. When browsing through his website I found this. It’s called “the rupter” and is a design by Karl himself. It lets you kill/enhance your video signal realtime with an array of knobs and switches. I’d like to use it on parts of the christmas video material.
Fortunately, Karl posted a schematic for it. I had to order the AD8072 ic on Ebay, so it still takes some time to arrive, but in the meantime there’s plenty of other stuff to do.
